About GKCC Educate & Elevate Series: Educate and Elevate sessions are provided free to Chamber members for professional development and enrichment purposes. Topics vary for each session and include subjects such as: marketing, SEO, customer service, leadership, human resources (HR), small business legal, social media, time management, local issues, security, and more. We encourage members bring their brown bag lunches or grab something to eat on their way in.
Want to speak or present? Chamber members who are experts in their fields are invited to share their expertise with other Chamber members over the lunch hour. Each lunch will focus on topics related to professional and personal development. Contact Liz Kerns at Lkerns@greaterkokomo.com.
About the speakers: Monty Henderson is the Regional Director for the Hoosier Heartland Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC). He came to this position after serving a stint as the Indiana SBDC state director of network operations in Indianapolis. While there, he worked to organize an export team of accredited advisors across Indiana to provide technical assistance to businesses who desire to engage in international markets. He also served many years as an Indiana SBDC business advisor, having assisted over 1500 clients, and was awarded the America’s SBDC Indiana State Star award on behalf of the Kokomo team in 2010 and the Purdue Bravo Award in 2014. Monty also is a life-long farmer and has worked in the agribusiness sector. He received a BS degree in Ag Economics from Purdue University in 1981 and earned his graduate certificate in Public Management from IUPUI in Indianapolis in 2009. He was an elected official in Tipton County for 22 years, with the highlight being the attraction of (what is now) the FCA Tipton Transmission Plant when he was serving as president of the County Board of Commissioners. Monty’s experience includes public service at the local, regional and state levels.
